LiNa attend the ACWA Power and KAUST Innovation Day

LiNa was invited to attend the ACWA Power and KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) Innovation Day in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

ACWA Power is a developer, investor and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants, with a portfolio of over 22GW of renewables. They are looking to work with emerging energy storage technologies that perform well in high-ambient climates, which makes LiNa an ideal fit.

James Morrish attended on behalf of team LiNa Energy and participated on a panel on “New sustainable energy storage technologies suitable for GCC climates”

One of the key takeaways was the insight into just how quickly ACWA Power has rolled out PV, CSP and wind generation. Their aspirations for green hydrogen export will require a huge increase in this capacity (100s of GWs) – clearly, this generation capacity will need to be supported with energy storage.

This cements LiNa’s view that a truly low-cost battery that can deliver high round-trip efficiency in high-temperature markets will really unlock CO2 savings and have a huge impact on the energy transition. Thank you Christos Iraklis and Thomas Altmann for the invitation. We look forward to collaborating with you!

Christos Iraklis commented ” Thanks LiNa Energy for attending our event. It was my pleasure to meet James Morrish in person. We’ve had some really fruitful discussions on how important energy storage is to support renewables integration and decarbonize energy intensive industries.”
