LiNa Energy was privileged to meet Nursat Ghani MP, Minister for Science and Investment Security at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) during her recent visit to the North West of England to meet leaders of the UK’s maritime industry.
The event was organised by Bibby Marine and show-cased how local companies are working to decarbonise the maritime sector by commercialising new technologies.
Bibby Marine’s work is leading world in developing commercially viable, zero-carbon vessels. LiNa and Bibby Marine were partners in project LiNa-Wave, funded through the Department for Transport’s Clean Maritime initiative. This project successfully demonstrated that LiNa’s battery systems can meet safety and cost requirements of the maritime sector. Since then, LiNa has signed an MoU with Garic, Bibby Marine’s sister company, for further collaborative commercial development activities.
During her visit, Minister Ghani witnessed first-hand the achievements of Britain’s maritime industries. Businesses she met made the case for continued government support for clean maritime projects. This will ensure the UK’s maritime sector continues to lead the world in making shipping cleaner, greener and more affordable to operate and deliver significant economic benefits to the North West of the country.
